Explore the WIDA Early Years framework and its connection to the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. WIDA Early Years is a tool that supports multilingual learners in early childhood classrooms by identifying and celebrating their strengths while meeting their individual needs. WIDA Early Years has been aligned with the MN ECIPs to identify how language plays a critical role in all domains of learning.

Learning Objectives

▷ Identify and define the guiding principles of WIDA for Early Childhood Development
▷ List and explore strategies for supporting English language development in an early childhood setting
▷ Assess how the WIDA Early Childhood Standards intersect with the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress

Participant Support Accommodations

Self-Paced Eager-to-Learn courses are self-paced and have instructor-recorded audio for each PowerPoint slide. Participants can take as much time as they need to reflect, process, and take notes. Reflection opportunities will be provided throughout the course.

The module will include videos, interactive quizzes (matching, true or false, sequencing), supplemental readings, and a web-based lecture to support different learning styles. A script will be provided so participants can read what is said in the presentation’s voiceover and closed captioning is available.
